Carol J Thiele
Dr. Carol J. Thiele is the Chief of the Cell and Molecular Biology Section in the Pediatric Oncology Branch at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda Maryland. Dr. Thiele’s scientific interest is the biology of pediatric neuroectodermal tumors. Dr. Thiele’s research on the mechanisms by which retinoids controlled growth and induced differentiation in neuroblastoma tumors was important in developing the rational for the subsequent clinical use of retinoids in neuroblastoma patients. Dr. Thiele’s current research interest is in understanding how genetic alterations in neuroblastoma alter epigenome leading to the differentiation block in high-risk neuroblastoma tumors and exploiting the epigenomic druggable landscape to identify new theapies for children with neuroblastoma.
